CONCEPT
Our designer met with the artist to develop a plan for the 288 page book. The artist had compiled over 100 paintings and over 100 sketches that needed to be showcased in a format which fine art collectors would appreciate. The original slides of the paintings were scanned on a drum scanner to ensure quality reproduction, while the sketches were scanned directly from the artist's sketchbook and converted to line art.

In this case, the paintings and corresponding text on each page, with the sketches randomly placed to keep it interesting.

Each spread was thought of as an individual layout. The chapters were organized by date that the painting depicted with an detailed index to find the paintings easily.

BINDING & DETAILS
The quality of leather binding, archival pages with gilt edges and a ribbon marker were our suggestion for this collectors edition book.

The client desired qualities of old world, 19th century bookmaking. Marbled endsheets helped to create this feeling.
|
Gold foil stamping on the cover and spine also give the book a high-end appearance.
