case study 1

RAPID AIR

The challenge: design a logo that repositions a hard-working, but under-imaged aircraft charter service as a premier regional charter service.
The initial concepts (seen above) refered to the regional nature of the charter service and the upward movement of the company. The sharp sans serif font evokes a clean, contemporary and professional feeling.

In the end, a modified version of an early concept proved to be the winner. The italicized font paired with the forward looking arrow suggest a company that is moving forward. The navy blue and champagne color scheme suggest the excellence and reliability of a company positioning itself as one of the primier charter services in the Midwest.

UNISOURCE OFFICE FURNITURE PARTS
The challenge: bring three different brand platforms together in one design.
Some suggestions from our client were that the design would include elements of their product (office furniture parts and systems). We explored the use of panels in different configurations, but in the end it was two 90 degree connectors that provided the shape for the logo's icon.

The solution for uniting the sub-brands was to use the two connector shapes across the various brand platforms. Each sub-brand is then identified with its own accent color paired with the warm gray for the type and the left-hand connector shape.

FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT CENTRAL

The challenge: create a logo for an association of non-profit organizations who provide information and resources to promote family-friendly entertainment in various media.
The initial association would include five media types. Since the logo was to be used primarily in a website environment, the use of five colors would not become problematic. The use of the star shape remained with the design from the start, and suggests the entertainment element.

The design evolved to suggest a family gathered together around a white star (symbolizing wholesome entertainment).
The final result was a logo that accomplished everything requested.
