OUR HISTORY:
After working as a printing representative for three years, Rinck Heule observed that it is very difficult, if not impossible, for most conventional printers to effectively meet the diverse needs of print buyers. Rather than trying to make the customers’ jobs to fit the presses on his employer’s production floor, it would be so much better to start with the customer’s needs and then build the production resources around those needs to make for a perfect fit.
In 1984, then 23-year-old Heule launched Grand Rapids Print Systems to do exactly that – fit print production resources around customers’ requirements, rather than the other way around. At a time of much excess capacity in the printing industry he began to purchase press time on diverse equipment to re-sell at discounted rates. Yet, a printing company without presses was a novel idea that took several years to catch on in the conservative Mid-West market.
In 1991, Jason Gordon joined the company. With Jason’s expertise in desktop publishing, cutting edge pre-media became an essential part of services offered. Print Systems, Inc. as the company was now called, was one of the first companies in Michigan to offer commercial-quality digital photography.
The company moved to its current location at 1415 Plainfield NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505 in 2002 and was renamed HeuleGordon, Inc.
Today, HeuleGordon, Inc. is one of Michigan’s largest print management companies serving clients from coast to coast through a worldwide network of resources.
